International Game Technology PLC (IGT), is the world’s leading end-to-end gaming company. In late 2016, IGT decided to dispense with an older outdated iGaming technology (Flash) in favour of a new, secure and feature-rich platform for a better gaming experience – Adobe’s Flash was forced out, while the HTML5 standard was ushered in. It allows developers to create sharper images, more fluid graphics and has laid the foundations for the advances to improve iGaming further.
In February 2017, IGT was in need for a Senior Programme Manager to quickly enhance the delivery of the HTML5 Programme to its 65+ Global Customers. After engaging with Y2X and carefully discussing the requirements and deliverable’s, Y2X was able to deploy a senior programme manager who is also a military veteran in to the London IGT office to bring about the delayed programme.
The HMTL5 programme elements included design of a new HTML5 console for each of the 65+ operators, ability to utilise both legacy (Flash) and new content in a single launch method and the also configuring custom adaptors for the delivery across multiple platforms. There was three levels of collaborative teams established to manage the project. A Project Implementation Team (PIT) was set up to handle the day-to-day issues of the project. The composition of the PIT included project participants whose work at any given time could impact the project’s outcome. A Project Management Team (PMT) with representation of the owner, architect, and technical engineer, was established to manage the project and make decisions by consensus. If issues arose that could not be resolved by the PMT they were taken to a higher level for final resolution: a Senior Management Team, (SMT) again with representation of the three principal parties.
